Summer 24 Reading Book #1
Grit, Rigour & Humour: The INEOS Story
This book is currently one of my firm favourites. It is easy to read and moves at pace, giving great insight into the rise of one of the world’s most successful companies. My highlighter pen had a field day on this book!
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
With Chapters written by INEOS founder and chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe and seven leading specialist authors given unprecedented access to the company, Grit, Rigour, and Humour examines the approach and thinking that has seen INEOS go from a single site in Belgium to the global giant that today touches almost everyone’s lives.
Summer 24 Reading Book #2
The Extra Mile: Kevin Sinfield My Autobiography
I read this book when it was first published last year, and Kevin Sinfield’s story is even more poignant following the recent passing of his best friend, Rob Burrow CBE, who sadly died on 2 June 2024, four and a half years after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
The Extra Mile is the story of an astonishing life, an enduring friendship, perseverance against the most difficult of challenges, and a remarkable, humble human being who has defied the odds. This book will equip you with the tools and mindset to embrace togetherness and overcome your own challenges. And it leaves us with the urgent question: who would you go the extra mile for to help in life?
Summer 24 Reading Book #3
Wilful Blindness by Margaret Heffernan
I read this book as I started to question why as humans do we tend to ignore what is right in front of us. Is it ignorance, fearfulness, groupthink at its worst or something else? Wilful Blindness delves deeper and answers the critical question: How did we not see ‘this’ coming?
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
The biggest failure in our lives stems not from what is hidden or secret but from what stands in front of us that we refuse to consider. Why do we fail to notice the early warning signs, weak signals that tell us to pay attention? Why do we so often look in the mirror and ask: how could we have been so blind?
Summer 24 Reading Book #4
The Habit Mechanic by Dr. Jon Finn: Fine-tune your brain and supercharge how you live, work and lead.
Those who know me well will know I talk endlessly about showing up and being the best version of yourself each day. This book is a toolkit full of ideas on how to develop better habits for resilience, performance, and leadership.
BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Do you want to feel and do better? The biggest problem you face is that most self-help, training, and coaching is outdated and ineffective in our challenging world. Why? It’s NOT rooted in cutting-edge science about how your brain ACTUALLY works and what ACTUALLY stops you from fulfilling your potential. The solution? Become a Habit Mechanic.
ENJOY!
